Schade, das diese Strecke so viele Freeze fabriziert. Aber ein tolles Finish habt ihr da hingelegt! 0,037 sec!!!
037? Da gab es doch mal was!
Der tolle Lancia 037!
Grats Greg !!

..thx Robert, we missed you! -indeed, 69x-cars are about 10km/h slower here, even if you drive a no-wing car
What a great fun slipstreaming is. First time for me, great experience! I wish Mario would have had more luck, what would even double the fun! Thx Albrecht for picturing the foto-finish! I let myself fallback about 2-3m to much in the last corner..
Nice car Claudio! The last rear wheel drive WRC champion! My first car was a Toyota Celica that looked like the Group B Celicas. The Lancia 037 is one of my favorite racing cars.
It's funny that you posted that picture. I recently went to the Rocky Mountains to look for a place to move and enjoy some peace and quiet. I drove many US Forest Service roads and often thought I need a Lancia Stratos for these roads. I'm getting old. I thought of the Stratos but nothing as crazy as the 037. This old Nissan sedan had me nervous at times. A Stratos could have gone twice as fast with less worry.
Congrats Tim! I think my lack of wing was the deciding factor. It looks like you tried to be as careful as I did. I wasn't very confident this week. Without any wing I had difficulty holding my car on a good line. Last week with 1.75 degrees on the front and 4.5 degrees on the rear, I was very confident with the car. I could place it just about anywhere on the track. But it was a second slower per lap.
It's a shame Mario had a screen freeze. Tim and I were starting gain on you. Within 2-3 laps we probably would have been in a pack of 3 cars again. Earlier, if Tim hadn't fallen behind Mario and I was able to get back in the two leaders slipstream, I may have set an incredible lap time. By the time the race ended I had an ideal lap of 2:15.92 showing.
My car was fast. I saw a top speed of 330 kph in the tow that was limited by rpm. A longer 5th gear would have gone faster but overall it would have lowered my average. Last Friday, I saw 333 kph in the 67 Lotus. I think that's the fastest I've ever seen in it.
Thanks for the fun guys. Thanks for posting the picture Albrecht. And it's nice to get so lucky occasionally. Take care.
Der Lancia Beta Montecarlo war eine meiner ersten Tourenwagen Karosserien bei den 1:8 RC-Cars ca 1980 - war aerodynamisch aber der Toyota Celica unterlegen...
@Greg I had both cars bodies for my 1:8 RC-car when we raced the Touring cars, the 1977 Schnitzer Toyota was better handling...

Yeah, Greg, I'd like that, too. Drive through the streets of the Rocky Mountains. But then of course with a beautiful V8. My dream would be a Camaro ZL1 convertible!
