Die Quali lief gut, aber ich hatte auf eine hohe 17 gehofft.
Hatte einen hohen 1. Gang, aber der Start war solide genug, um die Führung zu halten. Lasse saß mir allerdings schon im Nacken. Aber auf der Mulsanne Straight überholten wir uns ein paar Mal, bevor Lasse mich schließlich in der Mulsanne Hairpin überholte.
Danach hatte ich Mühe, Lasse dicht zu folgen, kam aber nach 5 Runden näher heran. In Runde 6 verlor Lasse in Arnage das Heck, und ich ging vorbei. Von da an wuchs der Abstand auf 3-4s, aber in der letzten Runde schnappte sich Lasse die schnellste Runde.

Had a tall 1st gear, but the start was solid enough to hold on to the lead. Lasse was already breathing in my neck though. But on Mulsanne Straight we passed eachother a few times before Lasse passed me ultimately in Mulsanne Hairpin.
Then had trouble to follow Lasse close, but after 5 laps came closer. On Lap 6 Lasse lost the rear at Arnage, and I went by. From then on the gap grew to 3-4s, but Lasse nicked fastest lap in the last lap.
Well done Lasse and Sanjin, and finishers! Happy New Year!
In Quali I learned from watching Robert and the others that a Brabham has to be driven different then I always did -with much higher revs..
Had a great racestart and could have passed Sanjin and Uli relatively easy but got stucked between them and had to lift. So I focused not to throw it away and cooled down myself in the first corners. As race developed I could overtake Uli at the SF-line but reaching Sanjin was impossible for me. He drove a great race, made nearly no mistake and always was a little faster then me. Maybe my gear-setting was not the best as my 2nd and 5th gear set to long. I wonder if the fast guys in front have pumped up their reartyres?
21psi(145kPa) all around. uh no rear was 20psi(138kPa) , was afraid of to much pressure after to much heat-
I like low revs and thats why i like Braby most. it my best car.
I saw in rpy that Tim Have short 5th- but on top speed i didnt notice any diffrences , Uli had bad top speed. Lasse, Tim , Me, Claudio was on same top speed. dont know for revs.
I hate high revs. Thats why BRM really suck life from me.
Mein Rennen wurde so dumm beendet. In Runde 5 auf der Hunaudieres Gerade kurz nicht aufgepasst (Augen geschlossen) und links auf die Wiese gegen eine Laterne. Bescheuert!
Robert hatte ein intressantes Setup. Die Gänge waren sehr lang eingestellt. Auf Start/Ziel fuhr er nur im 4.! Und auf der Hunaudieres Gerade kam der 5. erst bei 305 km/h! Und dann schreibt er, dass der 1. Gang zu lang war. Wie? Der 1. Gang ist im Brabham immer zu kurz! Hat er ein besonderes Setup gehabt?

My race ended so stupidly. On lap 5 on the Hunaudieres straight I wasn't paying attention (eyes closed) and hit a lamppost on the left in the meadow. Stupid!
Robert had an interesting setup. The gears were set very long. On the start/finish line he only drove in 4th gear! And on the Hunaudieres straight, the 5th gear only came at 305 km/h! And then he writes that 1st gear was too long. How? First gear is always too short in the Brabham! Did he have a special setup?
Anyway, congratulations to Lasse and Robert. They are the real aliens!

I make my setups in GPL Setup Manager, for finetuning. Then you can have other differential gearing/ratio's. I did use 14/32 (original set is 7/31 up to 10/31). That way I could set a very tall 1st gear (6.00). 5th gear was an overdrive with 2.98 final gear ratio. Also towards Indianapolis I did stay in 4th gear.
The Repco engine has wide powerband and a lot of torque in the low revs. But at fast tracks you need top end horsepower. Because of the engine characteristic you can get away with shortshifitng, but also using the higher revs.
My tirepressures were 155kPA left front, 159kPa right front, 148kPa left rear and 152kPa right rear.

So konnte ich einen sehr hohen 1. Gang einstellen (6,00). Der 5. Gang war ein Overdrive mit 2,98 Endübersetzung. Auch gegen Indianapolis bin ich im 4. Gang geblieben.
Der Repco-Motor hat ein breites Leistungsband und viel Drehmoment in den unteren Drehzahlen. Aber auf schnellen Strecken braucht man Leistung am oberen Ende. Aufgrund der Motorcharakteristik kann man mit kurzen Drehzahlen auskommen, aber auch die höheren Drehzahlen nutzen.
Meine Reifendrücke waren 155kPA vorne links, 159 kPa vorne rechts, 148 kPa links hinten und 152 kPa rechts hinten.
Gratulation ans Podium und vielen Dank an die Orga! Es war schön festzustellen, dass ich nach all den Mod Jahren im 67ern Original, der GPL Krone, noch mithalten kann. Leider war ich vor allem auf der Geraden mit meinem niedrigen Reifendruck deutlich zu langsam. Zum Glück war Mario dort noch langsamer als ich, sonst hätte er mich nach meinem Ausflug ins Grüne, den ich vor der Indy hatte, auch noch überholt. Alles in allem war das Rennen sehr entspannend. Das liegt hier in LeMans an den 67ern und ihrem minimalistischen Windschatten ;) Im Gegensatz dazu macht LeMans besonders im 67SCx oder 69xF1 Mod deutlich mehr Spaß, da kann man dann die Konkurrenz nicht so leicht abschütteln und bis zur letzten Runde dicht an dicht kämpfen. Noch eine Frage: Mein BT24 Cockpit pixelt ganz im Gegensatz zu all den anderen Cockpits. Wo bekomme ih ein neues Hochauflösendes her? Ich versuche, wenn nichts dazwischen kommt in Rouen wieder bei euch zu starten. Freue mich darauf
Congratulations to the podium and many thanks to the organisers! It was nice to see that I can still keep up after all these mod years in the original 67, the GPL Krone. Unfortunately, I was clearly too slow, especially on the straights with my low tyre pressure. Luckily Mario was even slower than me there, otherwise he would have overtaken me too after my excursion into the green that I had before the Indy. All in all, the race was very relaxing. Here in LeMans, that's because of the 67s and their minimalist slipstream ;) In contrast, LeMans is much more fun, especially in the 67SCx or 69xF1 mod, because you can't shake off the competition so easily and fight closely until the last lap. Another question: My BT24 cockpit is pixelated in contrast to all the other cockpits. Where can I get a new high-resolution one? I'll try to start with you again in Rouen, if nothing comes up. Looking forward to it
